Payroll & Compensation Modules: Payroll; SGK Outputs, Severance and Expenses Coming Soon

In short

The payroll and compensation category is where Sora İK (Sora Yazılım Teknolojileri's human resources management software) calculates pay. The Payroll module is available today, with extra payment and deduction items. SGK (Turkish Social Security Institution) e-Declaration and MUHSGK outputs, severance and notice pay, advances and bonuses, expenses, benefits, pay budgets, accounting export and R&D payroll are coming soon.

Which modules in this category are available?

  • Available

    Payroll (Türkiye)

Calculation infrastructure under Turkish legislation for gross-to-net pay, SGK premiums and tax from pay, hire/exit dates and period items.

Which calculations come together in the payroll and compensation category?

Monthly payroll is only the visible part of pay-related work. An employee's pay during the month is affected by advances, bonuses and statutory deductions; expenses they incur on the company's behalf are reimbursed, their benefits are tracked separately, their severance is calculated when they leave, and the payroll result is transferred to accounting or ERP (enterprise resource planning) software. Sora İK (Sora Yazılım Teknolojileri's human resources management software) first builds the core of the monthly cycle in this category:

  • Payroll (Türkiye): for gross and net pay calculation, extra payment and deduction items for the period, and payroll outputs.

The CSV summary of finalized payroll contains information that can help when preparing SGK (Sosyal Güvenlik Kurumu, Türkiye's Social Security Institution) notices and MUHSGK (Muhtasar ve Prim Hizmet Beyannamesi, the combined withholding tax and premium service return) filings; this file is not an official notice. The SGK e-Declaration & MUHSGK module, which will produce the file to upload to the official systems, is coming soon.

Today payroll counts 30 days for a fully worked month; for an employee who joins or leaves during the month, days are counted as calendar days from the start or leaving date (at most 30). Unpaid leave, absence and sick leave days are not yet transferred from the Attendance Ledger (Puantaj) and leave records into payroll as missing days; this link is coming soon. The filings themselves are made by the company's authorized person through the official channels of the relevant institutions; Sora İK has no direct connection to public institutions.

Rates, ceilings and exemptions used in payroll calculations are set out in official sources and updated periodically. Sora İK provides a calculation infrastructure based on legislation in this area. The explanations on this page are not legal or financial advice; for situations specific to your business, consult your accountant (mali müşavir).

What will the payroll and compensation modules coming soon do?

SGK e-Declaration & MUHSGK Coming soon

SGK e-Declaration & MUHSGK is coming soon to prepare, from finalized payroll, the file to be uploaded to the official systems for the Muhtasar ve Prim Hizmet Beyannamesi (MUHSGK) and SGK notices. In many businesses the same information is compiled a second time for the return after payroll is finalized, and an inconsistency in premium days, the reason code for missing days or deduction amounts is often noticed only during upload. The electronic format of the file is set by the technical rules of the official institutions; Sora İK will not produce the file until it has verified and tested this format against official sources. Until then, the information needed for filing is in the Payroll module: the finalized payroll summary can be downloaded as a CSV file with days, gross pay, SGK base, employee and employer contributions, tax bases, exemptions and deductions, and used when preparing the return. Calculating premium days from the attendance ledger and the reason code for missing days are coming soon. The SGK reason code for leaving is selected from SGK's official list in the exit record of Onboarding & Offboarding. Nothing is sent to the official systems automatically: user names, passwords and e-signature details for those systems are not stored in Sora İK, and returns and notices are submitted through the official channels under your or your accountant's authority.

Severance & Notice Pay Coming soon

Severance & Notice Pay will be available soon to produce a departing employee's severance (kıdem) and notice pay (ihbar) calculation together with its basis. Most businesses do this calculation in a spreadsheet on the day of departure, where details such as the start of service, regular payments that belong in the wage, the periodically updated ceiling and the effect of the reason for leaving on eligibility can be missed. An incorrect calculation can lead to a dispute with the employee and to unexpected costs for the business. The planned module will take this information from Digital Employee Records and payroll records and prepare a breakdown showing each step with its assumptions. The calculation will run as part of the departure steps in Onboarding & Offboarding. A scenario calculation showing finance teams what would be due if an employee left today is also being considered. Eligibility conditions and calculation rules are set by labor legislation; the module aims to provide a calculation infrastructure based on these rules. The results are not legal or financial advice; in contested cases, consult your advisor.

Advances, Deductions & Bonuses Coming soon

The Advances, Deductions & Bonuses module is planned to bring together the items that arise during the month and change payroll. Salary advances, installment repayments, statutory deductions such as wage garnishments and alimony, bonuses and sales incentives usually arrive from different people by email or spreadsheet before payroll day; items get forgotten or processed twice because of this fragmentation. Today, extra payment and deduction items for the period can be added manually to a draft payroll in the Payroll module: an extra payment is added to gross pay and is subject to SGK premiums and tax, while a deduction is subtracted from net pay. The planned module will turn this into a regular process: employees will be able to request an advance, approved through steps defined with the Workflow & Approval Designer; the repayment plan of an approved advance will be tracked as a payroll deduction, with the remaining balance visible each month. The aim is to allow rules for bonuses and extra payments, for example feeding target-based bonuses from performance records. How each item is treated for tax and social security premiums will be defined once per item type and reflected consistently in the payroll calculation. We recommend confirming item definitions with your accountant.

Expense Management Coming soon

Expense Management is coming soon so that employees can report expenses made on the company's behalf, such as fuel, accommodation, transport, entertainment and supplies, with receipts, and have them approved and reimbursed. Receipts piling up in envelopes, approvals stuck in email and unclear reimbursement dates wear out both employees and the finance team. In the planned module, employees will enter an expense with category, amount and description and attach an image of the receipt or invoice; the expense will go through approval steps set by expense type and amount. Closing earlier business advances against expenses and tracking the remaining balance is also being considered. Whether approved expenses are paid through payroll or separately will be left to the company. Employees tracking their reimbursement status on their own screen will also mean fewer payment-date questions for finance. Documents will be stored using the Document & Contract Management structure. Business trip expenses will be handled together with the travel and per diem work in the platform category, and the accounting transfer of approved expenses will connect to the accounting module in this category.

Benefits Administration Coming soon

Benefits Administration is planned to track who receives which non-wage benefits, in which period and at what cost. Benefits such as meal cards, private health insurance, private pension contributions, company phones, shuttle services or company cars are usually tracked in different supplier lists and different people's files; when an employee leaves or changes position, benefit updates lag behind. In the planned module, each benefit will be defined with a type, an eligibility rule and start and end dates, and you will see who is entitled to which benefit based on criteria such as position or seniority. The tax and social security treatment of some benefits is regulated separately in legislation and may change periodically; the aim is to define it per benefit type and reflect it in the payroll calculation. Letting employees see their own total compensation package on the Employee & Manager Self-Service screen is also being considered. The day-to-day running of services such as the canteen and shuttle is covered by a separate module in the platform category.

Compensation & Budgeting Coming soon

Compensation & Budgeting is coming soon; it is being designed to define pay bands by position and plan the raise period with the budget. In many businesses, raise season runs on spreadsheets collected from managers, long email threads and last-minute budget corrections, while pay differences between employees in the same position often go unseen. In the planned module, pay bands will be linked to positions in Org Chart & Positions; managers will enter raise proposals for their teams, which will go to approval after being checked against the budget limit. The effect of different raise scenarios on annual personnel cost will be visible before approval. Planned versus actual personnel cost will be monitored using payroll data, and pay outside the band will be flagged. Passing approved new salaries to payroll when the raise period closes is also being considered, so no data is carried by hand between approval and implementation. Because pay data is among a company's most sensitive information, visibility will rely on permissions in the Roles, Permissions & Security module. Pay decisions can then rest on defined criteria and the budget rather than individual bargaining.

Accounting & ERP Integration Coming soon

Accounting & ERP Integration is among the modules coming soon, to reduce the manual re-entry of payroll results as accounting entries. In businesses that use ERP or accounting software, the payroll accrual is rewritten every month from a separate spreadsheet according to the chart of accounts; this repetition takes time and increases the risk of errors. The planned module aims to map payroll results to the company's chart of accounts and cost centers and export them in a format ready for accounting entries. The same mapping will show personnel cost distribution by department or project. Which file formats and transfer methods will be supported will be decided during development; using the open API (application programming interface) work in the platform category for this transfer at a later stage is also being evaluated. Today, Sora İK has no ready-made connection to any accounting or ERP software and makes no claim to that effect. The name of the software you use and your expectations are among the inputs that will be considered when the module's scope is defined.

R&D / Technopark Payroll Coming soon

R&D / Technopark Payroll is planned to track the payroll of staff working in an R&D center, design center or technology development zone (technopark), and the records underlying that payroll. In these businesses, incentives and exemptions may apply to items such as income tax, the employer's share of social security premiums and stamp duty, on condition that the time employees spend on eligible activities and their personnel details are documented regularly. This documentation is mostly kept in spreadsheets separate from payroll, and data is compiled again for each periodic report. The planned module aims to keep eligible staff and their time on the same record as payroll, show incentive items separately on payroll and bring together the data needed for periodic reports. Working time data is expected to come from the project timesheets work in the time and attendance category. Time that an eligible employee spends outside the zone or on out-of-scope work is also meant to be flagged separately. The scope, conditions and calculation rules of incentives are set out in official sources; in practice, we recommend getting your accountant's opinion.

Frequently asked questions

Which payroll and compensation modules can be used today?

The Payroll module is available today, covering gross-to-net pay calculation, extra payment and deduction items for the period, payslips and a payroll summary (CSV) for preparing returns. The file for upload to the official systems is not produced yet; SGK e-Declaration & MUHSGK is coming soon. Severance and notice pay, advances and bonuses, expenses, benefits, pay budgets, accounting export and R&D payroll are coming soon as well.

Which accounting software will Accounting & ERP Integration work with?

This has not been decided yet. The module is coming soon; which file formats and transfer methods will be supported will be defined during development. Today, Sora İK has no ready-made connection to any accounting or ERP software. Sharing the software you use and your expectations in a demo meeting helps us assess the requirements.

What information will the severance pay calculation use?

The planned module aims to take information such as length of service, reason for leaving, last gross wage and the regular payments that must be included in the wage from personnel and payroll records. The ceiling amount and eligibility conditions are set by legislation and updated periodically. The calculation breakdown will be shown with its assumptions; the results are not legal or financial advice.

How will expense management differ from the travel and per diem module?

Expense Management will track how employees report, get approval for and are reimbursed for any expense made on the company's behalf, with receipts. Travel & Per Diem will cover the request, approval and per diem calculation for business trips; expenses after the trip will be passed to the expense module. Both modules are coming soon and will use the same approval flow infrastructure.

How will R&D and technopark incentives be reflected in payroll?

The planned module aims to track incentive and exemption items separately in payroll for staff working in an R&D center, design center or technology development zone, and to keep the working time records they rely on. The scope and conditions of the incentives are set out in official sources and may change; in practice, we recommend getting your accountant's opinion.

How will the tax and social security treatment of benefits be determined?

The treatment of benefits for tax and social security premiums depends on the type of benefit and is regulated separately in legislation. The planned module aims to define this assessment once for each benefit type and reflect it consistently in payroll. We recommend confirming the definitions with your accountant; Sora İK provides a calculation infrastructure, not financial consulting.

Who can see pay information?

Pay data is opened only to the people who need it, according to the permissions defined in the Roles, Permissions & Security module. Who viewed pay and payroll records and which fields changed in them are tracked in the audit log today; the before and after values of a change are coming soon. In the upcoming Compensation & Budgeting module, managers are planned to see only their own team's pay.
